Buyer License Agreement
Effective September 2026 — this page explains the terms that apply when you purchase or use any Vectalux pattern or design.
This is a legal agreement between you (“Licensee”) and Vectalux (“Licensor,” “Vectalux”). By purchasing, downloading, or using any Vectalux pattern or design (“Pattern”), you agree to be bound by the terms below.
1. Definitions
- Licensor: Vectalux (also referred to as “the Licensor”, “Vectalux”, or “we”).
- Licensee: The individual or business entity purchasing and using the license.
- Pattern(s): Any digital surface design, motif, or artwork created and distributed by Vectalux, including the high-resolution JPEG and native source file (Adobe Illustrator/.AI, .EPS, or .PSD, depending on the design) provided at download, in all available colorways.
- End Product: A physical or digital item created by the Licensee that incorporates the Pattern in a non-editable, flattened, or merged form and is offered for sale or public use.
2. Grant of License
Vectalux grants the Licensee a non-exclusive, non-transferable, perpetual license to use the Pattern worldwide, under the tier purchased, for as long as the terms of this Agreement are followed. Every Vectalux Pattern is licensed, not sold outright. Copyright remains with Vectalux unless a separate written buyout agreement states otherwise.
3. License Tiers
A “physical end product” means one item sold to a customer using the Pattern, whether a single item or one multi-piece set sold as a single listing.
| Tier | Physical End Products | Digital Use | POD | Term | File Resale |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Standard | Up to 10,000 units | Unlimited | Not permitted | Perpetual | Not permitted |
| Extended | Up to 250,000 units | Unlimited | Permitted (counts toward cap) | Perpetual | Not permitted |
| Unlimited | Unlimited | Unlimited | Unlimited | Perpetual | Not permitted |
| Exclusive | Unlimited | Unlimited | Unlimited | Perpetual | Not permitted |
Exclusive is not a standard checkout option. It is a full buyout: the design is pulled from sale to all other buyers. Contact Vectalux directly for a quote. If your use exceeds your tier’s cap, you must upgrade to a tier that covers your actual volume. Contact Vectalux and we’ll sort out the difference. Standard, Extended, and Unlimited tiers are non-exclusive; Vectalux may continue licensing the same design to other buyers unless it has been purchased exclusively.
4. What You Can Do
On any paid tier, the Licensee may:
- Use the Pattern in physical goods for sale, including but not limited to apparel, stationery, fabric, packaging, and home decor, up to the tier’s unit cap.
- Embed the Pattern in digital end products as long as the Pattern is flattened and not extractable (e.g., digital planners, printables).
- Modify the Pattern: recolor, resize, crop, repeat, or combine it with original artwork.
- Use the Pattern worldwide, with no time limit, per the terms of the purchased tier.
- Use the Pattern in social media, websites, and marketing materials, provided it is not used as part of a logo, trademark, or brand identity.
- Use the Pattern in client or agency work, provided a separate license is purchased for each end client the Pattern is used on behalf of. Using the Pattern across the Licensee’s own multiple businesses or brands likewise requires a separate license per brand.
5. What You Can’t Do
Regardless of tier, the Licensee shall not:
- Resell, share, sub-license, or distribute the Pattern in original or editable formats (JPG, AI, EPS, PSD, or derivatives).
- Sub-license the Pattern to a third party, or use it on Print-on-Demand platforms (e.g., Spoonflower, Redbubble, Printful, Society6, Zazzle) beyond what the purchased tier permits.
- Use the Pattern as, or as part of, a logo, trademark, or brand identity.
- Include the Pattern in editable templates for resale (e.g., Canva, PSD, or AI templates).
- Include the Pattern in AI-generative tools or machine-learning training datasets or stock asset libraries, or upload the raw source file to stock marketplaces or POD platforms as a standalone, separately downloadable asset. (This is distinct from using POD services to manufacture physical products under a valid license tier; see Section 3.)
- Claim authorship or copyright of the Pattern, or use it unlawfully.
- Share or use the Pattern across multiple businesses, brands, or clients without obtaining a separate license for each.
6. Refunds
Digital delivery is immediate, so sales are generally final. Exceptions: duplicate purchases, corrupted or incorrect files, fraudulent transactions, or where the law requires a refund.
7. Buyer Responsibility
The Licensee is responsible for selecting the tier that fits their actual production volume and use case. Vectalux does not guarantee that a design is suitable for any specific product, fabric, or manufacturing process. That determination is the Licensee’s own.
8. Liability
Vectalux is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from use of a purchased Pattern. Vectalux’s total liability on any purchase is capped at the amount paid for that purchase.
9. Termination
This license is valid perpetually unless breached. If any term is violated, the license terminates immediately and all use of the Pattern must cease. No refunds are issued for terminated licenses.
10. Governing Law
This Agreement is governed by the laws of Indonesia. Disputes fall under the jurisdiction where Vectalux is based, unless local law provides otherwise.
11. Changes to This Agreement
Vectalux may update these terms. Material changes will be posted on the site or emailed to the Licensee before taking effect. Continued use of a purchased design after that point constitutes acceptance of the update.
12. Attribution
Attribution is not required, but appreciated. Recommended format: “Design by Vectalux – vectalux.com”.
